• Avoid consuming heavy food for at least 1.5 hours before the session.

This is one of the main things to keep in mind to avoid discomfort during your massage session. Of course, lying upside down with a full stomach is not at all comfortable in any case, especially not during a massage session where the therapist is also applying pressure through the massage on you. Also the digestion process requires energy and can create a feeling of sluggishness lowering expectations from your session. It is therefore recommended not to eat heavy food for 1-2 hours before the massage or eat a very light meal.

• You should not consume alcohol before the massage session

Alcohol consumption before a massage session can have a negative effect during the session, alcohol increases blood pressure and thus directly affects the blood circulation system. Also, massage is known to stimulate blood circulation and this can create problems during the session, so it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption. Drinking large amounts of alcohol before a massage session can also cause dehydration, which can make it harder for muscles to relax and increase the sensitivity of muscle pain when exerting pressure.

• Avoid consuming foods that cause gas or nausea!

It is recommended to avoid consuming foods that cause gas or nausea before the massage session to minimize the risks and ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for you. Foods that cause gas such as beans, fizzy drinks, broccoli, cabbage, onions, garlic, etc., can cause uncomfortable feelings of bloating or cramping during the massage.

Consuming these foods before the massage can lead to unwanted sensations such as bloating, drowsiness or internal congestion, which can affect the overall massage experience and your peace of mind during the treatment.

To avoid these unpleasant sensations and to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience, it is recommended to avoid the consumption of foods that cause gas or nausea for several hours before the massage session. Instead, you can consume light and easily digestible foods such as fruits, vegetables, or light proteins, which will not cause any unwanted feelings during the massage.

This practice can help enhance the massage experience and facilitate client relaxation, allowing the therapist to focus on treating the muscles and providing a comfortable and healthy experience for the client.

In conclusion, your experience during a massage session can be significantly improved by taking care of these details before you leave for treatment. Avoiding heavy meals, moderate alcohol consumption, and avoiding foods that cause gas or nausea are simple practices that can positively affect the relaxation and benefits of your massage session. By understanding the importance of these preliminary steps, you can ensure that your massage session is enjoyable and beneficial, allowing your body and mind to get the most out of this healthy experience.
